Gang Task Force serves Section 8 search warrants

HEMET – Three suspects were arrested Thursday, April 28, following search warrants that were served on Section 8 recipients who were receiving aid and housing as violent felons, gang members, and drug dealers, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Nishida of the Region 3 Gang Task Force.

Members from the Region 3 Riverside County Gang Task Force – that includes the Hemet San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force – with the assistance of agents from the US Department of Housing & Urban Development- Office of Inspector General, served the warrants.

The locations of the search warrants were at 1080 Rosalia, 2488 Cristobal and 41816 Acacia Avenues as well as 674 Hillmer Drive. All four search warrants were served in the City of Hemet and in the unincorporated area of Hemet

Three suspects were arrested as of result of the search warrants. Two suspects were arrested and charged with perjury and defrauding HUD and the Public Housing Authority. The third subject was arrested for a felony parole warrant, according to Nishida.

Additional criminal charges of perjury and defrauding the Public Housing Authority will also be filed against two additional subjects, Nishida explained. Administrative action will also be taken against those Section 8 recipients by HUD-OIG.
