Two men arrested while burglarizing Riverside residence

RIVERSIDE – Officers arrested two men suspected of burglarizing a vacant residence that was for sale Saturday, April 30. Riverside Police officers were dispatched to the in-progress burglary at an unoccupied residence located in the 6700 block of Hillside Avenue.

Randy Patrick Foster, 39, and Ryan William Reed, 36, were arrested and later booked into jail for burglary, possession of stolen property, and weapons violations. Both men are residents of Riverside, according to officials.

At about 12:30 p.m., a passerby called 911 to report seeing at least one of the two men allegedly stealing cabinets and other valuables from inside the vacant residence.

A pilot from the department’s Air Support Unit was in the area in an unmarked police vehicle and quickly arrived at the location of the reported burglary. The officer maintained surveillance of the suspects as patrol officers were responding to the location. Responding officers detained the two men on a nearby property.

During their investigation, officers learned the suspects had been stealing cabinets, doors, mirrors, vanities and other miscellaneous items from the vacant house. Investigating officers recovered stolen property as well as a stolen travel trailer that was linked to the suspects. Officers also located a handgun inside the stolen trailer.

Based on their investigation, officers arrested the two men. Both alleged suspects were booked at the Southwest Detention Center.

A jail records search revealed Foster was booked for possession of stolen property. He is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Reed was booked for being a felon in possession of a handgun, being under the influence of a controlled substance and driving under the influence. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Reed and Foster are scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall of Justice May 4, at 8 a.m.
