RIVERSIDE – A woman was arrested by Riverside Police officers after she allegedly slashed another person with a razor, Sunday, May 15, according to an official press release from the department. The slashing occurred at Kmart, located in the 3000 block of Iowa Avenue.

During their investigation, officers identified  the alleged suspect as Rena Anjel Downey, 34, of Riverside. Following an investigation, officers arrested her for mayhem and assault.

City of Riverside emergency communications dispatchers received a 911 call at about 1:45 p.m., regarding the report of someone bleeding at the location.

Officers and other emergency first responders rushed to the Kmart and located a victim who had been sliced with a razor. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before they transported the unidentified person to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Officers quickly located Downey, who was still in the parking lot. Downey was positively identified as the person who had attacked the victim with the razor.

A jail records search revealed Downey was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. She is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. Her arraignment is scheduled for May 18, at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
