RIVERSIDE: Man shot in Casa Blanca neighborhood

RIVERSIDE – A man was shot Sunday, May 22, at the intersection of Grace and Fern Streets in the Casa Blanca neighborhood, according to a police official. Detectives from the Riverside Police Department’s Gang Unit are asking for the public’s assistance with the shooting investigation.

Officers described the victim of the shooting as a Hispanic male adult, in his 40’s. His injuries were considered non-life threatening, according to an official press release about the shooting incident.

City of Riverside emergency communications dispatchers received several 911 calls at 5:34 p.m., from concerned citizens who heard numerous gunshots that someone fired in the area.

“Officers responded to the location and found several expended shell casings and other evidence in the street,” according to an official. Officers notified local hospitals to be ready for any potential shooting victims and began to collect evidence and document the scene where the shooting occurred.

While officers were processing the crime scene, they were notified that a shooting victim had arrived at a local hospital for treatment. Officials responded to the hospital to contact and interview the victim.

There were no witnesses or suspect information at the time of this report.
