Man arrested after wounding other man in Riverside shooting
RIVERSIDE – Riverside Police officers arrested a man after an early morning shooting left another person with minor injuries, May 27. According to an official press release, the two men had gotten into an argument in an apartment complex parking lot in the 3400 block of Iowa Avenue, which led to the shooting incident.
After they concluded their investigation into the non-fatal shooting officers arrested Truman Kiley, 50, of Riverside. He was booked into jail on five felony charges related to the incident and eight charges related to warrants.
Officers first responded to the location after City of Riverside emergency communications dispatchers received a 911 call reporting the shooting at about 12:45 a.m.
When they arrived, officers learned Kiley had gotten into an argument with another tenant in the parking lot of the apartment complex. During the argument, Kiley allegedly returned to his apartment and retrieved a handgun.

After getting the handgun Kiley went back out to the parking lot and confronted the other man he was arguing with. He then threatened the victim before he fired one round into the ground in the direction of the victim. After firing the round at the victim Kiley returned to his apartment.
The victim, who has not been identified, sustained a minor leg wound from shrapnel caused by the fired round. Paramedics evaluated and treated the victim at the scene and he declined further medical treatment.
Officers conducted a records check and learned Kiley had several warrants for his arrest. They then surrounded Kiley’s apartment and formulated a plan before attempting to contact the armed man. When officers contacted Kiley, he was safely detained without incident.
The victim positively identified Kiley during an in-field identification.
Officers conducted a search of Kiley’s residence that led to the discovery of the handgun and ammunition used in the incident.
Based on their investigation and the recovered firearm, officers arrested Kiley and booked him into jail.
A jail records search revealed Kiley was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of making terrorist threats, using a firearm to commit a felony, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and negligent discharge of a firearm; all felonies. He was also booked on eight misdemeanors related to his warrants, including driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, and resisting arrest with violence.
Kiley is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail and he was scheduled for arraignment at the Riverside Hall of Justice this morning, June 1.
