Man arrested after using replica firearm to rob woman in Hemet
HEMET – A man was arrested by Hemet Police officers after he allegedly used a realistic looking replica firearm to rob a woman, Sunday, June 5, according to a Hemet Police official. The robbery occurred in the 500 block of North San Jacinto St, in Hemet.
Mohammed Rahman was arrested after he used a replica firearm to rob a woman in Hemet.
The alleged suspect, who was later identified as Mohammed Abdel Rahman, 24, of San Jacinto, was arrested after officers located him near where the robbery occurred. He was booked into the Southwest Detention Center for two felonies and three misdemeanors.
The victim called 911 at about 7:15 a.m. to report the robbery. She was able to provide dispatchers with Rahman’s description as well as the fact that he was last seen riding away northbound on San Jacinto Street on a bicycle.
Officers converged on the area and began searching for Rahman. They quickly located a male matching Rahman’s description riding a bicycle north through the parking lot of the Patio Plaza in San Jacinto. Officers detained Rahman without incident.
During their investigation, officers discovered Rahman had a replica, semi-automatic style firearm concealed in his right pants pocket. The replica firearm matched the description the victim stated Rahman had allegedly used during the robbery.
Based on their investigation and the victim’s statements officers arrested Rahman.
A jail records search revealed officers booked Rahman into jail on suspicion of second-degree robbery, attempted first-degree robbery, making terrorist threats and other charges.
Rahman is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at an unspecified court June 17.
