Deputies investigating Meadowbrook murder

MEADOWBROOK – The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Central Homicide Unit is conducting a homicide investigation after a man died from injuries he sustained during an assault that occurred Saturday, July 16. The assault reportedly occurred at a residence in the 27000 block of Highway 74, in the unincorporated community of Meadowbrook. Meadowbrook is located northeast of Lake Elsinore and southwest of Perris.

The victim’s identity has not been released and is being withheld pending notification of his family.

The investigation began at 9:13 a.m., when deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Station were dispatched to the Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar to investigate the report of an adult male who had suffered “a major head injury,” according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Wallace Clear. The injury was so severe, the man was not expected to survive.

The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead the following morning at 1 a.m., according to Clear.

“Based on the circumstances, investigators from Lake Elsinore Station and the Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation,” Clear explained in a press release.  “The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.”
