Hemet trespass investigation leads to human trafficking arrest
HEMET – Hemet Police officers arrested a Los Angeles resident for human trafficking and other sex-related crimes Saturday, July 16. Officers arrested the man after they located him and a 15-year-old girl inside a vacant home in the 300 block of South Alessandro Street, in Hemet.
Officers had gone to the residence after an alert citizen called 911 to report seeing two people entering the vacant home. The caller told dispatchers they had seen the man, who officers identified as 21-year-old, Delano James Jackson-Abron, enter into the home with the teenaged girl.
Officers arrived at the residence just after 3:00 p.m. and found Jackson-Abron and the girl inside the residence. The officers detained both subjects while they investigated the trespass.
During their initial investigation, officers determined that just before they had arrived Jackson-Abron had possibly just finished having sexual intercourse with the minor.
Officers notified the Hemet Police Investigations Bureau to conduct a further investigation. Detectives responded to the location to assist with the investigation and also obtained a warrant to collect forensic evidence from Jackson-Abron.
During their investigation, detectives interviewed the teenager and learned that Jackson-Abron had been ‘pimping’ her and forcing her into prostitution with adult men. Detectives also learned Jackson-Abron had been conducting the same type of illegal activities with several other girls from the Los Angeles area. Detectives are still working to identify and locate the other girls.
Based on the victim’s statements and evidence recovered from the vacant residence, detectives arrested Jackson-Abron. He was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for three felonies. As the investigation continues and other potential victims are identified, the District Attorney’s Office could file additional charges.
The teenaged girl has not been identified due to her age.
“We will continue to work closely with our partners at the Human Trafficking Task Force and the Million Kids Organization,” Hemet Police Deputy Chief Rob Webb said after Jackson-Abron’s arrest. “Many of these stories never make the news to simply protect the victims but it is a priority to us in Hemet.”
A jail record search revealed Jackson-Abron was booked on suspicion of human trafficking, unlawful sex with a minor, and pimping. He is being held in lieu of $85,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at an unspecified court July 20.
