Motorcyclist in critical condition after early morning Moreno Valley accident
MORENO VALLEY – A motorcyclist suffered critical injuries in a solo-vehicle motorcycle crash just after midnight, Wednesday, Aug. 03. The accident happened on Heacock Street near the intersection of Cottonwood Avenue in Moreno Valley, according to a sheriff official.
This was the first of two major traffic collision in Moreno Valley that occurred on the same morning within hours of each other. In the second accident, a man died when he was ejected from his vehicle in a collision on Perris Boulevard, just north of Canyon Vista Road. The two accidents occurred just over four miles apart from each other.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Police Department responded to the major injury traffic collision after at least one person called 911 to report the wreck.
Deputies and other emergency first responders arrived within two minutes of the initially dispatched call and discovered a single vehicle traffic collision involving a motorcycle, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant William Stens.
Paramedics and fire personnel treated the motorcyclist at the scene and discovered he suffered multiple major traumatic injuries. Paramedics transported the victim to Riverside University Health System in critical condition. The downed rider was not identified.
Due to the severity of the driver’s injuries, the Moreno Valley Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene of the collision to conduct a thorough accident investigation.
During their accident investigation, deputies “determined the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Heacock Street. The driver lost control of the motorcycle shortly after passing Bay Avenue” and the Riverside County Superior Courthouse. After losing control the motorcyclist “struck a curb followed by a street sign,” Stens explained.
“Heacock Street was closed for approximately six hours while the collision was investigated,” Stens said.
