Landscaper injured in Hemet collision
HEMET – A landscaper was hospitalized Wednesday, Aug. 3 after a vehicle struck a utility trailer the man had been working near.
The worker had been spreading mulch in the planters in front of A Storage Place, directly across the street from Sun Valley Estates. The collision happened on W. Acacia Avenue between S. Lyon Avenue and Elk Street.
The car struck the trailer with so much force the trailer and a truck the trailer was attached to were thrust forward and up onto the curb.
When the vehicle hit the trailer, the landscaper – who had been standing near the trailer – was knocked backward. Witnesses at the scene said the landscaper, who has not been identified, was thrown 20 to 25 feet from the impact.
Hemet Police officers and other emergency first responders rushed to the aid of the injured landscaper who had complaints of severe abdominal, back and neck pain.
Paramedics treated the worker at the scene before they transported him to a local hospital. The full extent of his injuries were not known or immediately available.
The driver of the car that struck the trailer, who was described as an adult male in his 20’s, was traveling eastbound when he clipped the left rear of the trailer with the right front side of his vehicle, which was described as a newer, silver Toyota.
