HEMET – After a thorough, months-long investigation, Hemet Police Detectives arrested a man Tuesday, August 16 who was the last of three subjects wanted in connection with a series of robberies.

The most recent armed robbery occurred July 18, at Pride Pharmacy. The pharmacy is located at 2569 W. Florida Avenue in Hemet. The man and two others were also wanted in connection with two liquor store robberies.

Detectives arrested 29-year-old John Sydney Bryant on East Florida Avenue at about 11 a.m. for his alleged involvement in the pharmacy robbery and two other armed robberies that occurred at different liquor stores in the City of Hemet over the past 3 months. He was later booked into jail on ten felony charges.

Detectives had already arrested 24-year-old Dillon Edward Alcala and 23-year-old Sara Christine Guerra Aug. 4 for their alleged involvement in the robberies.

After they were arrested the three subjects were charged with a total of 19 felonies and six misdemeanors between them. They were transported to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning where they were booked for their various charges.

The months-long investigation began after the first armed robbery happened June 11 at Castle Liquor, located at 4290 E. Florida Avenue. In that incident, two subjects entered the business while a third subject waited in a getaway car.

The second armed robbery occurred July 13 at L&L Market, located at 395 W. Stetson Avenue. In that armed robbery, two subjects entered the business demanding all the stores’ cash. During the robbery, one of the suspects fired a shot into the ceiling.

In all the armed robberies the subjects were wearing gloves and some type of clothing to conceal their identities.

A jail record search revealed Bryant was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, committing a felony while using a firearm, discharging a firearm while committing a felony, two counts a conspiracy to commit a felony, two counts of second-degree robbery and three counts of committing a robbery in concert with three or more subjects.

He is being held in lieu of $275,000 bail and is scheduled to be seen at an unspecified court Aug 22.

Alcala was booked on suspicion of committing a felony while in possession of an assault weapon, discharge of a firearm, and three counts of second-degree robbery. All are felony charges. Additionally, he was booked for a number misdemeanors including petty theft, possession of a fake license, providing false identification to a peace officer, and other charges.

He is being held in lieu of $215,000 bail and is scheduled to be seen at an unspecified court Oct. 25.

Guerra was booked on two counts of suspicion of conspiracy to commit a felony and two counts of second-degree robbery. All four charges are felonies. She was released the same day she was booked after posting $30,000 bail. She was scheduled to be seen at an unspecified court Sept. 19.
