Wanted felon with shotgun arrested in stolen car in Jurupa Valley
JURUPA VALLEY – A PRCS probationer who was wanted for violation of the terms of his probation was arrested Thursday, Sept. 8 after Gang Task Force members found him in a stolen vehicle. The man was arrested in the 3000 Block of Mintern Street in Jurupa Valley
Members of the Riverside County Region 7 Gang Task Force located the stolen black Honda civic about 5:03 p.m., according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Frank Lodes. The Honda had been reported stolen in the City of Riverside earlier the same day.
The Honda was occupied by Edwin Ramos age 27 of Jurupa Valley. Deputies detained Ramos after locating him in the stolen vehicle.
During the course of their investigation, deputies located a loaded illegally modified, short barrel, 12-gauge shotgun on the driver’s side floorboard of the car.
Deputies also determined Ramos was under the influence of a controlled substance while being in possession of the illegal firearm. Deputies also discovered Ramos was in possession of burglary tools and that he was being sought for an outstanding felony Post Release Community Supervision probation violation warrant out of Riverside County.
Based on their findings, deputies from the gang task force arrested Ramos.
A jail record search revealed Ramos was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside for suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, being a felon in possession of a short barrel shotgun, being a felon in possession of ammunition, being in possession of a firearm while under the influence, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, his outstanding PRCS felony warrant, a prior state prison enhancement, and revocation of his probation.
He is being held without bail and is scheduled to be seen at the Riverside Hall of Justice Sept. 13.
