LAKE ELSINORE: Stolen motorcycle leads to arrest of 2
LAKE ELSINORE – Two people were arrested Sept. 14 after they were found in possession of a stolen motorcycle at the Travel Inn located in the 31000 block of Auto Center Drive in Lake Elsinore.
Deputies assigned to the Theft Suppression Team of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Police Station conducted a records check of a motorcycle parked in front of the hotel. The computer inquiry revealed that the motorcycle was reported stolen from Fontana July 19.
Deputies waited nearby to see if anyone would return to the stolen motorcycle. As they waited they observed a man, later identified as Gilbert Jasen Partida, 35, of Riverside, exit one of the hotel rooms and use a screwdriver to turn on the motorcycle. Deputies detained Partida without incident.
During a subsequent investigation deputies learned Partida was staying at the hotel with Iris Godinez, 37, of Indio. A records check revealed both Partida and Godinez had outstanding warrants for arrest.
Based on their investigation deputies arrested Partida and Godinez. After their arrests, deputies transported both subjects to the Southwest Detention Center where they were booked for a variety of charges.
A jail records search revealed Partida was booked on suspicion of three felonies, including vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and committing a theft with prior theft arrests. He was also booked for failure to appear in court, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana.
Partida was released the following day after posting $25,000 bail. He is scheduled to be seen at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta Nov. 9.
Godinez was booked for her warrants, including charges of burglary, false impersonation for financial gain and a prior state prison enhancement. Godinez is being held in lieu of $65,000. She is scheduled to be seen at the Larsen Justice Center in Indio Sept. 16.
