HEMET: Three vehicle wreck shuts down traffic on two streets

HEMET – A three vehicle traffic accident forced the closure of at least two roads Monday, Sept. 26. The accident happened at the intersection of Devonshire Avenue and Meyers Street.
Hemet police officers, City of Hemet firefighters, and American Medical Response emergency medical technicians responded to the accident that was dispatched at 2:50 p.m.
The first fire engine company and AMR medics arrived at the location at 2:52 p.m., just two minutes after the call was dispatched.
The firefighters confirmed three vehicles were involved in the collision, including a Frontier Communications work truck that had an overturned single-axle trailer containing a large generator. The firefighters also reported that both Devonshire Avenue and Meyers Street were blocked by the wrecked vehicles and debris.

As officers and Hemet police volunteers began to arrive in the area, they closed westbound Devonshire Avenue at Warren Road as well as northbound Meyers Street at Florida Avenue.
SoCal Edison personnel were summoned to the accident scene to assess and repair a support wire for a power pole that was damaged in the accident.
Paramedics and firefighters evaluated and treated multiple people at the accident scene and AMR medics transported at least two victims from the collision to Hemet Valley Hospital for further treatment.
After the trailer was righted back onto its wheels all three vehicles – including the trailer – were towed from the accident scene.
Hemet police officers conducted an accident investigation; however as of this report the circumstances that led to the minor injury traffic collision had not been released.
At 3:41 p.m. officers updated that the accident scene had been cleared of all the damaged vehicles and other debris. The roads were re-opened shortly afterwards.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
