MORENO VALLEY: Deputies investigating after shooting leaves one injured

MORENO VALLEY – Deputies are conducting an investigation after a man was reportedly shot in the area of Indian Street and Cottonwood Avenue Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Police Station responded to the incident after Riverside County emergency dispatchers received several reports of a possible shooting at about 6:33 p.m., according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Favero.

When deputies arrived, they were notified of a male who had been brought to a local hospital suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The injured male, who has not been identified, was treated for his injuries at the hospital.

As a result of the shooting, Cottonwood Avenue between Dilbeck Drive and Indian Street was closed for about two hours while deputies conducted a follow-up investigation, according to Favero.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
