HEMET: Traffic stop of stolen vehicle leads to guns and drugs arrests

 

HEMET – Two subjects were arrested while in possession of a stolen car, narcotics, weapons, and ammunition Monday, Oct. 17. The arrests followed a sighting of the stolen car by a Hemet police officer at about 8:17 p.m.

A Hemet police officer on routine patrol spotted a vehicle that had been previously reported as stolen. The officer conducted a records check that confirmed the car was stolen. He then followed the stolen vehicle for several blocks waiting for other officers to converge on the area and assist in a felony traffic stop.

Before the officer could initiate a traffic stop the driver suddenly pulled over in the 800 block of Harrow Street. The occupants of the vehicle were detained without incident.

During their investigation, officers located a loaded firearm and a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

The driver, identified as and Don Tyron Donahue, 26, of Homeland, and the passenger, identified as Hayley Burge, 23, of Hemet, were arrested for multiple felonies and later transported to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility.

A jail records search revealed Donahue was booked on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm, being an ex-felon with a firearm, being a prohibited person in possession ammunition, and possession of a controlled substance. He was also booked on a felony warrant for possession of an illegal weapon. He is being held in lieu of $25,000.

Burge, who was already on probation for possession of a controlled substance for sales, was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sales, committing a felony while out on bail, and violation of probation. She is being held in lieu of $50,000

Both Donahue and Burge are scheduled to be seen at an unspecified court Thursday, Oct. 20.
