RIVERSIDE: Man arrested after choking woman at park
RIVERSIDE – Riverside Police Department’s aviation unit, ‘Air-1’ assisted with the apprehension of a domestic violence suspect Friday, Oct. 21.
Shortly after noon, officers were dispatched to Patterson Park in the Eastside neighborhood after City of Riverside emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting that a male was assaulting a female at the park.
Upon arrival, an officer saw a suspect choking a female by the bathrooms. The suspect spotted the officer approaching and fled the park on foot. The officer gave chase, but lost sight of fleeing man in a nearby apartment complex.
Other responding officers helped establish a perimeter and Air-1 responded to assist.
Air-1’s Aviation Crew quickly located the suspect and directed officers to his location.
Officers detained the suspect, who was positively identified and later booked into jail for domestic violence.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
