CORONA: Man killed in early morning rollover accident

CORONA – A man died when he was ejected from his truck in an early morning, rollover traffic accident Saturday, Oct. 29. The accident happened on Green River Road between Dominguez Ranch Road, south of the 91 freeway.

The victim, described only as a 26-year-old male, has not yet been identified by coroner officials pending notification of the man’s family.

The victim was reportedly driving a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck eastbound on Green River Road at 2:50 a.m.  According to Corona police officials, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and it left the roadway. After the vehicle left the roadway it rolled several times into an open field south of Green River Road.

Police officials stated the driver, who was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected from the rolling vehicle. He sustained major traumatic injuries in the accident.

Paramedics and other emergency first responders rushed to the scene of the accident and provided medical aid to the severely injured man. AMR medics transported the victim to Corona Regional Hospital with extensive head trauma. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

The Corona Police Department’s Collision Response Team responded to the accident scene and assumed the accident investigation.

It is not yet known if alcohol or drug intoxication were contributing factors in the fatal collision, pending toxicology reports from the coroner’s office.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
