BREAKING: HEMET: Two shot, 1 killed – suspect being sought

HEMET – At least two people were shot, one fatally, in a violent encounter that occurred Friday, Nov. 4. The shooting happened between at least one suspect and a group of several subjects who had been walking in the area. The shootings happened shortly before 1 a.m., in the area of Acacia and S. Western Avenues in Hemet.
One victim, believed to be a 16 or 17-year-old juvenile, was found with a gun shot wound to the face. He was found in a backyard in the 200 block of S. Western Avenue after a citizen called 911 to report finding him.
A second victim was found deceased in an aqueduct south of the intersection. He had reportedly been shot in the back
The suspect in the fatal shooting has not yet been identified and has not been taken into custody.
Hemet police responded to multiple reports of shots fired at 12:47 a.m. One 911 caller reported hearing multiple gunshots and then finding two people with gunshot wounds in a field near the intersection.
The first officer arrived at the location one minute after the call was dispatched and he immediately reported finding a person down in a field. That subject, who was uninjured in the shooting told the officer he was with a group of five people when they were involved in the shooting incident.

As officers continued to converge on the location they fanned out throughout the neighborhood and began searching for the other four people from the original group that was shot at.
A few minutes later an officer located one the victims who had been shot in the face. The officer advised responding Hemet firefighters and AMR medics that the victim had been shot through the cheek and that the bullet was possibly lodged in the subject’s face. In spite of his injuries, the victim was alert and talking.
Hemet firefighters and AMR medics, who had been staging nearby, arrived at the location just minutes after they were cleared to enter the dangerous scene.
Paramedics treated the juvenile before transporting the victim to the trauma center at Riverside University Health System in Moreno Valley.
Just one minute after the minor was transported by ground ambulance to the trauma center, another officer advised he had found a second victim who had been shot. The victim was found in an aqueduct just south of a set of railroad tracks, south of Acacia Avenue and west of S. Palm Avenue.

The officer advised responding officers that the victim he located in the aqueduct had already succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by AMR personnel a few minutes later.
Officers established a large crime scene with multiple locations and they were actively searching for evidence related to the shooting. Volunteers responded to the area to assist with traffic control and to keep curious onlookers out of the area.
As of this report, four of the five people from the group of victims had been located. Officers were still searching for the fifth person, who was unaccounted for. Because he had not been located, it was not known if the fifth subject had been shot.
Hemet PD Homicide Detectives were summoned to the location and are expected to assume the investigation, which is still active and ongoing.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
