MORENO VALLEY: Double rollover injures 2 in Reche Canyon

MORENO VALLEY – Two motorists were injured in a two-vehicle, double rollover accident Friday, Nov. 4. The accident happened on Reche Canyon Road near Center Street in an unincorporated area north of Moreno Valley. The accident was reported to Riverside County emergency dispatchers at 8:10 a.m.

Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters and other emergency first responders rushed to the location after emergency dispatchers received multiple 911 calls regarding the injury traffic collision.

11 firefighters from two engine companies and one truck company responded to the double rollover, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer April Newman.

The first arriving Chief Officer reported finding two separate single-vehicle roll-over traffic collisions, with one victim trapped. Firefighters had to perform a cut and rescue operation to free the trapped victim.

Once firefighters extricated the trapped victim, that motorist and one other victim was transported by ground ambulances to a local hospital. One reportedly suffered moderate injuries and the other sustained minor injuries.

Firefighters and paramedics had cleared the scene of the accident 9 a.m.; however, California Highway Patrol officers remained at the scene as they conducted an accident investigation.

It was not immediately known if alcohol or drug intoxication were contributing factors in this accident.

The investigation into the accident is active and ongoing.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
