SAN JACINTO – This morning’s fire in downtown San Jacinto on E. Main Street brought 29 firefighters from nine engine companies responding to the residential blaze, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Jody Hagemann. They were assisted by a Breathing Support Unit and other fire officials.

“Cal Fire/Riverside County Firefighters, with assistance from Soboba Fire Department, and Hemet Fire Department are on scene of a multi-family dwelling structure fire in San Jacinto,” Hagemann explained in an initial press release shortly after firefighters arrived at the scene.

“The first arriving engine company reported a two-story, Victorian-style home with smoke and flames visible from the roof,” Hagemann explained.

Hagemann provided another update at about 1:15 a.m., writing that the fire had been contained to one structure. She also wrote that fire resources were expected to remain at the scene of the fire for at least two hours for extensive overhaul and mop-up operations.

Fire officials summoned Southern California Edison and the Southern California Gas Company to the scene of the fire to shut off all utilities to the residence.

E. Main Street between S. Jordan and S. Alessandro Avenues will remain closed until fire personnel are finished at the scene.

At least one family was displaced by the fire and American Red Cross officials were responding to the scene to assist the displaced family.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or citizens related to the fire.
