UPDATE: Hemet resident killed in Lamb Canyon accident this morning ID’d

Few details have been released after a Hemet resident was killed in an early-morning, three-vehicle wreck this morning, Tuesday, Nov. 29. The fatal, rollover accident happened on Highway 79, between the cities of San Jacinto and Beaumont. The collision was reported at 5:52 a.m.

Coroner’s officials later identified Robyn Baylon, 45, of Hemet, as the victim killed in the collision. According to a coroner’s release, Baylon’s time of injury was determined to be 5:48 a.m. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene about 20 minutes later at 6:09 a.m. The exact location of the accident was determined to be northbound Highway 79, about 1.5 miles south of County Landfill Road.

CHP officers, nine firefighters from three engine companies, and AMR medics responded to the deadly accident. When they arrived, emergency first responders found two people who were injured in the collision. One of the two victims, later identified as Baylon, was ejected during the accident and sustained major traumatic injuries. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Firefighter/paramedics treated the two victims at the scene before AMR medics transported the surviving victim by ground ambulance to an area hospital. The victim’s condition was listed as serious, Cal Fire Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Tawny Castro explained in a press release after the accident.

According to a CHP report, the driver of a Mitsubishi Montero was headed northbound on Highway 79 when he came upon a truck hauling construction equipment in the fast lane. The driver of the SUV attempted to pass the slower-moving truck, lost control of his vehicle, and began to roll. As the SUV overturned, another car smashed into it, according to CHP officials.

Baylon, a passenger in the SUV, was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled over.

The wreckage of the two vehicles was left blocking the northbound lanes of 79.

CHP is investigating the cause of the fatal accident.
