UPDATED: RIVERSIDE: Two killed, 2 injured after car smashes into power pole, victims ID’d

RIVERSIDE – Two men were killed and two others were injured when a vehicle they were in smashed into a telephone pole Thursday, Dec. 1. The fatal accident happened in the 10650 block of Arlington Avenue west of Norwood Avenue in the City of Riverside.
Coroner’s officials later identified the two men killed in the accident as Miguel Cisneros and Mario Valdez-Ramirez. Both victims were 24-year-old residents of Riverside. The coroner’s release listed both men’s time’s of death as 11:10 p.m.
City of Riverside Police and Fire Departments responded to a 911 call reporting the single-vehicle collision about 11:03 p.m.
When they arrived, emergency first responders found the barely recognizable vehicle wrapped around a city power pole. The impact from the car sheared the power pole at its base and the pole later had to be replaced.

AMR medics transported two of the occupants to Riverside Community Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The other two occupants of the vehicle both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the accident scene and is investigating the deadly collision.
Their preliminary investigation determined that a black Nissan Sentra occupied by four adult males was traveling westbound on Arlington Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle and smashed into the power pole.
Authorities have not yet ruled out alcohol and/or drug intoxication as contributing factors in the deadly accident, pending toxicology results.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
