JURUPA VALLEY: Man arrested after stolen vehicle investigation

JURUPA VALLEY – Deputies arrested a man after he was found in possession of a stolen pickup truck, possession of a stolen wallet and other charges Wednesday, Dec. 7. Deputies made the arrest in the 4000 block of Bain Street in Jurupa Valley.

Deputies identified the man as Steven Anthony McCary, 31, of Jurupa Valley. McCary was booked into the for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and committing a crime while on bail, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Deputy Butcher.

The investigation began after deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Station received information the residents at the home were involved in multiple vehicle thefts and vehicle burglaries.

While conducting surveillance on the residence, deputies from the Jurupa Valley Police station and Eastvale Police Special Enforcement Team saw a silver Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck parked in the back of the property, Butcher explained. Deputies conducted a records check that revealed the truck had been reported stolen from an Eastvale residence day earlier, on Dec. 2.

Deputies contacted the occupant of the stolen truck, identified as McCary, and detained him for possession of a stolen vehicle.

During their investigation, authorities located a wallet that had been stolen from an unlocked car in Eastvale Dec. 6.

A jail records search revealed McCary is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall of Justice Dec. 9.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
