NORCO: Man killed by hit and run driver ID’d

Coroner’s officials have identified the man killed in last Thursday’s fatal hit and run traffic collision as Michael Horton, 37, of Norco. Although coroner’s officials were not able to determine when Horton was struck, his time of death was listed as 5:53 a.m.
Sheriff’s officials have not identified any suspect’s in the deadly incident and are asking for anyone with information regarding their investigation or who witnessed the collision to contact Deputy Cuadra #3717 at the Jurupa Valley Station at (951) 955-2600. NORCO – A man was killed after he was struck by a hit and run driver Thursday, Dec. 22. The fatal incident happened in a parking lot in the 3300 Block of Hamner Avenue in Norco.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Norco Police station responded to the area about 5:45 a.m., after receiving reports of an unconscious male lying in a parking lot.
Deputies arrived within minutes and located an adult male down in the parking lot. Officials determined the victim had already succumbed to their injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Raymond Ricken.
Officials have not identified the victim pending notification of his family.
A preliminary investigation indicated the victim was struck by a vehicle and the incident is being investigated as a fatal hit and run traffic collision.
Based on the circumstances, traffic investigators responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
During their investigation, officials determined the pedestrian was struck by an unknown vehicle and the driver fled the scene without stopping to render first aid or call 911 to report the accident.
Sheriff’s officials did not provide any information about the driver or vehicle involved in the fatal collision.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
