MORENO VALLEY: Investigation ongoing after 2 men found dead in possible murder-suicide

MORENO VALLEY – Sheriff’s officials are investigating what they have determined to possibly be a murder-suicide after two men were found dead Friday, Jan. 13. The men’s bodies were discovered at a residence in the 25900 block of Flint Drive in Moreno Valley. The home is in a residential neighborhood west of Lasselle Street and north of Cactus Avenue.

Officials have not identified either of the subjects, pending coroner’s autopsies and notification of the two men’s families.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Police station were dispatched to the residence about 8:55 p.m., after a person called 911 to report “an assault with a deadly weapon call occurring at a residence,” Riverside County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jeff Buompensiero explained.

When deputies arrived at the home, they discovered two men dead at the location. “Both males sustained gunshot injuries that caused their death,” Buompensiero said. “Based upon evidence at the scene it appears this is a murder-suicide.”

Based on the circumstances, witness statements, and evidence recovered at the scene, investigators from the Moreno Valley Police Department and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the home and assumed the investigation. They were assisted by forensic technicians as well as officials from the District Attorney’s Office and the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

In other interviews, officials have said investigators believe all involved parties have been accounted for. They have also said officials are not looking for any suspects and they do not believe there is any danger to the public.

Investigators are still interviewing people who were believed to have information about what happened or who had possibly witnessed the deadly incident.

Officials have not released how the men died or if there were any weapons recovered at the scene.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Dusek from the Central Homicide Unit at (760) 393-3522 or the Moreno Valley Police Department officials at (951) 486-6700.
