GLEN IVY: One dead, 17-year-old male arrested, after 3 family members stabbed

GLEN IVY – A juvenile male was arrested after he allegedly stabbed three family members, killing one of them, Friday, Jan. 13. The stabbings happened in the 8000 block of Renwick Lane in the unincorporated community of Glen Ivy, southeast of Corona and northwest of Lake Elsinore.

The home where the deadly, early-morning triple-stabbing happened is in the center of the Champion’s Club at the Retreat golf course within a gated community known as The Retreat in Glen Ivy.

Officials have only identified the victims as a 56-year-old male, an adult female, and a juvenile female.

The adult male later died from his stab wounds. The adult female is in critical condition and the juvenile was treated for “non-life threatening” injuries, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Wallace Clear explained about the incident.

Although sheriff’s officials have not yet specified how the three victims and suspect were related, in an interview with Valley News, Riverside County Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Mike Vasquez said, “We’re calling this a domestic assault.”

“A 17-year-old suspect who lived within the home was later located and arrested for homicide and attempted homicide,” Clear later explained. “All those involved in this incident are related and there are no other suspects outstanding.”

The investigation began when deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore station responded to the residence about 3:09 a.m., after Riverside County emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon at the home, Clear explained.

When deputies arrived, they found the three victims all suffering from stab wounds, according to Clear.

Paramedics treated the victims at the scene before AMR medics transported all three to Riverside Community Hospital.

Despite life-saving efforts, the adult male succumbed to his injuries and he was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 8:01 a.m. The victim’s identity has been withheld at the request of the Sheriff’s Department, pending further investigation.

The injured woman remains hospitalized in critical condition and the juvenile female is expected to survive attack.

The juvenile suspect was transported to Riverside Juvenile Hall in Riverside. Officials have not released the name of the suspect, due to his age.

This was the second homicide to happen in The Retreat community in the past nine months.

A man died of gunshot wounds March 6, after he was driven to a hospital by a friend after he was shot at a party inside the gated community. He was one of two who were reportedly injured at the party.
