CABAZON: Officials seek help identifying armed robbery suspect
CABAZON – Sheriff’s officials are seeking the public’s assistance identifying a man they allege robbed a woman Saturday, Jan. 28.
The armed robbery happened at the Tesla Supercharger Electric Vehicle Charging Station in the 48400 block of Seminole Drive in Cabazon.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult with facial hair. He was wearing a black hoodie over a white t-shirt, black pants, and a black hat. He was seen driving a tan or gold-colored, newer Suburban-style SUV.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Cabazon Station responded to the location after the victim called 911 to report the incident about 3:30 a.m.
When they arrived, deputies learned the victim was sitting inside her vehicle while parked at one of the vehicle charging stations when the suspect pulled behind her car, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant R. Beatty.
The suspect exited the driver’s seat of the SUV and approached the victim. He then brandished a black revolver while demanding the victim’s “stuff,” Beatty explained.
After robbing the victim of her belongings, the suspect fled the area in the SUV.
Deputies searched the area for the suspect’s SUV but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Investigating deputies obtained video surveillance of the robbery, including images of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving.
The victim later positively identified the suspect, according to Beatty.
