SAN JACINTO MOUNTAINS: Driver injured in rollover traffic accident

SAN JACINTO MOUNTAINS – A driver was injured in a single-vehicle, rollover traffic accident Sunday, Feb. 5. The accident happened on State Route 74 near Mile-Marker 50.50, east of Bee Canyon Truck Trail and the unincorporated community of Valle Vista.

Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters, California Highway Patrol officers, and American Medical Response medics responded to the scene about 2 p.m., after a person called 911 to report the rollover accident.

The first arriving firefighters located the overturned car on its roof, which was crushed from the impact. The car, which sustained major damage, was described as a gold Ford Thunderbird.

Firefighter/paramedics treated the driver at the scene before AMR medics transported him to an area hospital for further treatment. The full extent and nature of the man’s injuries were not immediately known.

SR74 was closed in both directions while firefighters provided medical aid to the victim and CHP officers investigated the cause of the accident.

Their investigation is active and ongoing.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations, including the Robert Presley Detention Center, the Southwest Station in Temecula, the Hemet Station, and the Lake Elsinore Station, along with many other locations.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, Personnel and Background Investigations and he finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
