SAN JACINTO: Home damaged by fire
SAN JACINTO – Firefighters quickly knocked down a residential fire Wednesday, Feb. 1. The fire was reported about 7:34 p.m., in the 300 block of West Main Street near South Estudillo Avenue in San Jacinto.
Firefighters had the fire fully under control within ten minutes of their arrival and reported the fire knocked down at 7:49 p.m.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters, with assistance from the Soboba Fire and City of Hemet Fire Departments responded to reports of smoke from the residence.
Twenty-one firefighters from six engine companies responded to the residential fire, according to Cal/Fire Public Information Officer April Newman. They were assisted by a paramedic squad.
“The first arriving units reported a working fire in a single-story, single family dwelling,” Newman explained. “The fire was contained to a single room of a vacant structure.”
Newman estimated the fire loss to be about $25,000, however firefighter’s efforts saved about $100,000 from the remaining property.
No citizen or firefighters were injured as a result of the fire and nobody was displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
