HEMET – Reports of shots fired and two men seen running with guns brought Hemet police officers flooding into the area of E. Devonshire Avenue and N. Franklin Street in Hemet Friday, Feb. 10.

The incident also caused Alessandro High School to go into lock-down.

Officers responded to the area shortly after 10 a.m., after City of Hemet emergency dispatchers received numerous 911 calls from citizens reporting hearing gunfire in their neighborhood.

Some callers reported hearing as many as a dozen shots fired. Others reported seeing two black men armed with weapons running through an alley in the area.

Eastbound E. Devonshire Avenue was closed at N. Franklin Avenue while officials searched for shell casings and other potential evidence.

Once officers concluded their investigation, the school lock-down was lifted and classes returned to normal.

There were no reported injuries related to the shooting incident or subsequent investigation.
