GOOD HOPE: One killed, two injured in solo-vehicle rollover

GOOD HOPE – One person was killed and two other were injured in a single-vehicle, roll-over accident Saturday, March 25. The deadly accident happened in the 22000 block of Ellis Avenue, near Marshall Street, in the unincorporated community of Good Hope. Good Hope is located southwest of Perris and north of Lake Elsinore.

Coroner’s officials later identified the victim killed in the accident as Cornelio Huerta, 24, of Compton. According to officials, Huerta was pronounced dead about 6:34 p.m.

California Highway Patrol officers and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene of the fatal wreck about 6:21 p.m., after several motorists and witnesses called 911 to report the accident.

Eleven firefighters from two engine companies and one truck company responded to the accident, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Tawny Cabral.

When they arrived, fire and police officials found the overturned vehicle in a dirt field adjacent to Ellis Avenue. Firefighter/paramedics located three victims at the scene of the accident.

One victim, who was later identified as Huerta, succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

Two other victims, neither of whom were publicly identified, were injured in the crash.

“One victim with serious injuries and one victim with moderate injuries were transported by ground ambulances to area hospitals,” Castro explained.

CHP officials are investigating the cause of the deadly crash.
