HEMET: Four-vehicle, rollover traffic accident slows morning commuters

City of Hemet Fire and Police personnel were dispatched to the multiple-vehicle wreck just before 8 a.m., after several people called 911 to report the accident. American Medical Response medics were also sent to the scene of the collision.

When they arrived, emergency first responders found vehicle parts, debris and four wrecked vehicles in and near the intersection.

The vehicles were described as a white sedan, white mini-van, blue pickup truck and burgundy SUV.

All four vehicles sustained moderate to major damage in the collision and the SUV ended up on its passenger side in the middle of the roadway.

Firefighter/paramedics immediately began assessing the victims and treating their injuries while police officers investigated the cause of the collision and assisted with traffic control.

It was not immediately known how many people were injured or the full extent of their injuries.

Witnesses at the scene did not report seeing any of the victims transported to the hospital for further evaluation or treatment.

Tow trucks were later summoned to the scene to right the over-turned SUV back onto its wheels and remove it and the other damaged vehicles from the roadway.

Katie Bulot, who witnessed the crash, later explained she was directly behind the red SUV and saw the driver fail to stop for a red light at the intersection.

Bulot explained that as it crossed through the intersection, the SUV was struck by the white sedan and a blue pickup truck. The SUV was hit broadside, causing it to flip into and roll over the top of the white mini-van that was waiting to turn at the intersection.

Hemet police officials are investigating the cause of the collision.
