William Hayes/Epicenter News contributed to this report.

NUEVO – Details are still emerging, but a man was arrested with assistance from a sheriff’s K-9 during a brief, but violent struggle after one of the man resisted arrest Saturday, April 15. The incident happened at a home on 12th and 11th Streets in the unincorporated community of Nuevo.

After a brief struggle and the use of a sheriff’s K-9, officials arrested the combative man, who was later identified as 30-year-old Brandon Brady.

Brady was later booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on a domestic violence related warrant.

The incident began about 3:40 p.m., when deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Perris Station were investigating a report of a theft, Riverside County Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Munoz said in an interview after the incident and arrest. The theft occurred in the area of Hess Lane and 13th Street.

While investigating that incident, deputies “contacted a male suspect who had some felony warrants for his arrest,” Munoz explained. “During the contact the suspect failed to surrender to officers and a K-9 was called to assist with the apprehension of the…wanted felon.”

After the incident, Brady had injuries consistent with a brief struggle as well as injuries related to his apprehension by the sheriff’s K-9.

He was taken to a local area hospital to receive treatment for at least one dog bite and a medical clearance required for booking.

It was not immediately known if Brady was involved in the original theft investigation.

No other details were being released, pending further investigation.

No deputies were injured during the incident.

An online jail records search revealed Brady is being held on $100,000 bail for felony spousal abuse.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall Of Justice April 19.

  • these facts are beyond wrong, they are fabricated, to show the situation in a light that is keeping the truth in a dark spot.

    • I am looking forward to hearing your side, Shaaf. We have already connected on FB PM and I am definitely interested in what you have to say. By the way, everything in my report came directly from Deputy Armando Munoz, of the sheriff’s Media Information Bureau.

  • Funny this is not the only story this newspaper puts out that makes a claim that is completely manufactured, and has no merit, yet, also appears to make reference to press releases that never existed. Seems as though this site has a knack for covering up the predatory and malicious intentions of the deputies. An attempt to discredit individuals that have been injured by the sherrifs and decided to not sit quietly whilst unethical and biased sherrifs deputies violate their oaths abs the laws of the land.

When will this absurd nonsense stop? It’s a mockery of the entire due process. An attempt to fabricate justice. A very pro police stance that is used to keep the public’s questions quite whilst resources are been burned up for personal and departmental agendas. Not for public saftey.

  • Yeah Peter this guy makes claims that are low key covering the ass of deputies. He claimed their was a press releas… yeah and buffalo’s have wings. Riversidesherrifs.org is where the press releases are found. Have yet to see one on there. Let’s say for the benefit of being 100 percent honest that this site should be called riverside county sherrifs propaganda source! I read the national Inquirer for my news!

    • Actually, if you re-read the article, it specifically says the quotes from Deputy Munoz were from an interview, not a press release.

Again, you are more than welcome to confirm the statements provided by Deputy Armando Munoz by contacting Riverside County Sheriff’s Media Information Bureau.

  • Press release. Interview, concocted becuase of underlying issues with sherrifs department staff, abuse of power, violation of rights, intruding privacy

  • “He’s a walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction….”
