Hemet Police and Fire personnel, California Highway Patrol officers and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene of the collision just before 11 p.m.

Emergency first responders began arriving within minutes of the dispatched call.

When they arrived, officials found the two vehicles involved in the wreck, described as a Hemet PD patrol vehicle and a 1967 Buick Le Sabre.

Witnesses at the scene said they saw the Buick pull out onto the roadway, at which time it was struck from behind by the police cruiser. The impact was so severe, it caused the Buick to spin around and the two vehicles came to rest facing each other.

American Medical Response medics responded to the location to evaluate and treat those injured in the collision.

It was not immediately known if anyone was transported to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment or the those involved in the wreck declined further medical treatment.

Because the accident involved a police patrol vehicle, CHP officers were summoned to the scene and they assumed the investigation, which is active and ongoing.
