JURUPA VALLEY: Officials investigating after man fatally shot near intersection

JURUPA VALLEY – Sheriff’s officials are investigating after a man was fatally shot Tuesday, May 2.  The fatal early morning shooting happened on the 9200 block of Jurupa Road near the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard in Jurupa Valley.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Police Station were dispatched to the location about 3 a.m., after emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a man down, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Walter Mendez explained in a written press release.

When deputies arrived they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Department-Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. They were assisted by investigators from the Jurupa Valley Station, the District Attorney’s Office, coroner’s officials and evidence technicians from the department’s Forensic Services Bureau.

Sheriff’s officials remained at the location for several hours while they investigated the deadly shooting.
