The rider was with a group of other motorcyclists when the victim’s motorcycle left the roadway and went down an embankment. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene of the accident, according to officials.

Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene of the deadly, solo-vehicle wreck at 11:17 a.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Tawny Cabral explained in an incident report after the fatal accident.

“The first arriving engine company reported one victim who perished at the scene,” said Cabral. The motorcyclist’s identity has not been released, pending notification of the victim’s family.

Riverside County Fire’s Hazardous Materials Team assisted with cleaning a spill from the accident.

California Highway Patrol officers are investigating the cause of the deadly crash and officials have not ruled out alcohol or drug intoxication as possible contributing factors in the accident.

During their investigation, officials called for the temporary closure of Winchester Road. The roadway was expected to reopen within two to three hours, after the completion of the officer’s initial crash investigation.

Their investigation is active and ongoing.
