LAKE ELSINORE — A juvenile riding a skateboard was critically injured and later died after being struck by a vehicle Friday, August 4. The fatal accident happened on McVicker Canyon Park Road and Sunswept Drive in Lake Elsinore.

Officials have not yet identified the victim, pending further investigation and notification of the boy’s family.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Police Station responded to the area after receiving several 911 calls from citizens reporting a major injury, vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision about 3:55 p.m., Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Nathan Kaas explained in a written press release after the incident.

When deputies and other emergency first responders arrived they located the victim down in the roadway as well as the driver of the vehicle that officials say struck the child.
