EASTVALE: Authorities investigating reports of large fight, shots fired

EASTVALE — Authorities are investigating after gunfire erupted during a reported fight between as many as two dozen people last Friday, August 4. The fight and reported shooting happened near Limonite and Hamner Avenues in Eastvale, according to sheriff’s officials.

The investigation began at 11:02 p.m., when Riverside County emergency dispatchers began to receive numerous 911 calls from citizens and witnesses reporting a shooting at the location, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Doug Payne explained in an Aug. 8 written press release after the incident.

Several deputies responded to the area; however they did not locate any victims or suspects.

During their initial investigation, deputies learned “twenty or more subjects” had been involved a physical altercation. “At one point, someone started shooting,” said Payne, who explained that all those directly involved in the fight and shooting either fled on foot or in vehicles before officials arrived.

Although officials have not yet located any suspects or victims, they say their investigation is active and ongoing.
