PERRIS: Local woman’s body found along Goetz Rd

PERRIS — Authorities are investigating after a woman’s body was found Thursday morning, Sept. 21. The body was found in the 2500 block of Goetz Road near Mapes Road in Perris.

The investigation into what officials have called a “fatal, traffic-related incident” began about 7 a.m., when deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Perris Police Station “responded to a report of a deceased female,” Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant J.P. Strang explained in a written press release.

The woman’s body was found “along Goetz Road,” according to Strang. A coroner’s release indicated the unidentified woman’s body was found one-quarter mile south of Mapes Road.

Deputies and medical personnel responded to the scene, where they confirmed the woman, described only as a 36-year-old, Perris resident, had already succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has not been publicly identified, pending notification of her family.

Based on the circumstances, members of the Perris Traffic Reconstruction Unit responded to the location and assumed the investigation.

During their hours-long investigation, officials called for the temporary, full closure of Goetz Road in both directions and traffic was diverted onto other, nearby streets.

“This investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released at this time,” said Strang.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact Deputy Lareau at the Perris Sheriff’s Station at (951) 210-1000. Callers can refer to incident file number PE172640019 and can remain anonymous. Citizens may also submit a tip using the Sheriff’s CrimeTips online form.
