After the pursuit and crash officers arrested Glenn Ian Jenkins, 47, of Riverside. He was transported to an area hospital to receive a medical clearance for booking and was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of recklessly evading officers, possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license. He was also charged with three prior state prison enhancements and violation of state parole.

The incident began around 10:30 a.m., when Riverside police officers attempted to make a traffic stop of a motorcycle for a vehicle code violation in the area of Sierra Street and Streeter Avenue in Riverside.

Jenkins refused to yield and sped away from officers, at which time officials initiated a pursuit of the fleeing man.

During the pursuit, Jenkins fled in an extremely reckless manner, without regard for the safety of other citizens or pursuing officers.

The pursuit traveled along surface streets on Arlington Avenue to Colorado Avenue, then up Van Buren Boulevard to Cypress Avenue.

As the pursuit continued on Cypress Avenue Jenkins crashed into a fence at Warren Street, causing him to fall from the motorcycle, according to Riverside police officials.

After Jenkins crashed into  the fence and was thrown from the motorcycle, officers were able to safely take the fleeing man into custody.

During their subsequent investigation, officers conducted a records check and determined Jenkins was on parole.

An online jail records search revealed Jenkins is being held on $210,000 bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall Of Justice, Nov. 13.
