RIVERSIDE: Victim in critical condition, suspect arrested, after Arlington South shooting
RIVERSIDE — A victim was critically injured when he was shot during an altercation Saturday evening, Nov. 25. The shooting happened at the intersection of Aralia Drive and Gibson Street, in the Arlington South neighborhood of Riverside.
After an investigation, officers arrested Mark Kent Pritos McMichael, 35, of Riverside. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder. He was also booked for possession of methamphetamine.
City of Riverside Police and Fire officials and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene just after 8:30 p.m., after receiving reports of the shooting and a man down at the location.
When they arrived, officials located a male victim down in the roadway, according to a Riverside PD social media release. The man had been shot and was unresponsive.
The victim, who has not been identified publicly, was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Detectives and other personnel from the department’s Robbery – Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
During their investigation, detectives determined the victim had been in a physical altercation with McMichael just before the alleged suspect shot him.
Riverside PD’s investigation is active and ongoing.
An online jail records search revealed McMicheal remains in custody, held on $1 million bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall Of Justice, Nov. 29.
