REDDING: “Unprovoked” stabbing at Boulder Creek apartment leaves man hospitalized

REDDING — A man was hospitalized after he was reportedly stabbed by an unknown and unidentified woman, late Saturday night, Nov. 25. The stabbing happened at the victim’s apartment at 333 Boulder Creek Drive, east of N. Boulder Drive, in Redding, according to police officials.

City of Redding police officers were dispatched to the apartment complex about 10:40 p.m., after SHASCOM emergency dispatchers received a report of the stabbing, Redding Police Sergeant Shawn McGinnis explained the following day.

When officers arrived, they found a 24-year-old victim who told officials he had been stabbed at his apartment. Officers immediately summoned medical aid for the victim, who has not been publicly identified.

The victim told investigating officers he answered his front door after someone knocked. The man opened the door to see a woman he described as a lone, white female standing on his doorstep.

The alleged suspect, who has not been identified or located, “addressed (the victim) by name before suddenly stabbing him for no apparent reason,” said McGinnis. The victim was stabbed once in the abdomen.

After stabbing the victim, the suspect reportedly fled the area on foot.

The victim told investigating officers he had never met the suspect before and he did not know who she was or why she stabbed him.

According to McGinnis, the victim described the alleged suspect as about 30-years-old, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with white hair.

Officers searched the area with assistance from a California Highway Patrol helicopter crew; however, officials were unable to find the man’s assailant.

The victim was eventually transported to Mercy Medical Center by ground ambulance, where he was treated for a non-life threatening wound to his lower torso.

The man is expected to fully recover from his injury.

Redding PD’s investigation is active and ongoing.
