EASTVALE: Officials investigating fourth RivCo backyard pool drowning in just 7 days

EASTVALE — Just two days after a man was found dead in a Jurupa Valley backyard pool, officials are again investigating after another man drowned in an Eastvale backyard pool.

Friday and Sunday’s deaths follow just one week on the heals of the back-to-back deaths of two toddlers who both also died in Riverside County backyard pools. The two children, a 1-year-old boy and a girl whose age hasn’t been released, died Jan. 14 and 15, respectively.

Emergency first responders were dispatched to a home on the 7100 block of Wild Lila Court in Eastvale, shortly after 1 p.m., Sunday afternoon, Jan. 21. The normally quiet, tree-lined, cul-de-sac is southeast of the intersection of Archibald Avenue and Schleisman Road.

When they arrived, officials found a man who had been found unconscious in a pool at the home. Officials did not specify who called 911 to report finding the victim in the pool or how long he might have been in the pool prior to being discovered.

Medical personnel were not able to revive the victim and he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire spokesperson Jody Hagemann explained in an incident report the day of the victim’s death.

Officials did not release the victim’s name, age or any other information, pending further investigation and notification of the man’s family.
