HEMET: Shotgun-wielding man apprehended after allegedly threatening father
HEMET — Details are still emerging after a man who reportedly threatened to shoot his father was apprehended in Hemet, Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 6. The incident, which brought law enforcement officials from at least three area agencies, happened on the 700 block of Zephyr Circle, near Ollie Way.
Hemet PD, CHP and Riverside Sheriff’s Department responded to a private residence about 12:15 p.m., after receiving reports of an argument between a father and son. According to official radio traffic the man, who has not yet been publicly identified, pointed a weapon at his father. Reports indicated there was a shotgun inside the home.
While Hemet PD and CHP officers surrounded the home a sheriff’s helicopter circled overhead, providing information and updates to officials on the ground.
Sheriff’s Aviation Unit members in “Star-9” soon spotted the son in the backyard of the residence and began giving orders for the man to exit the backyard. The man eventually exited the backyard where waiting officials detained him without incident.
After he was apprehended, the man was transported to Hemet PD for further investigation.
An online jail records search revealed no additional information and it was not immediately known what charges the man could be facing.
None of the involved agencies have released any information regarding the incident or man’s apprehension.
This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is made available.
