BREAKING: “Huge” Menifee house party turns tragic after man shot and killed

MENIFEE — Details are beginning to emerge after a large house party in Menifee left one person dead. According to residents who live on the street where the deadly incident happened, the owners of the residence – located on the 27100 block of Michener Drive, between Cleary Street and Blume Circle – were out of town when the party and fatal shooting happened.

Although officials have released very little information about the incident and their ongoing investigation, witnesses at the scene reported that between 100 and 200 people were at the house party when the shooting happened.

Area residents also reported seeing one person detained in the back of a patrol vehicle; however, it is not yet known if anyone has been identified or arrested in relation to the victim’s death.

Deputies from Menifee Police Department, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire personnel and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the residence where the shooting happened around midnight, after receiving multiple reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Official radio traffic at the time indicated that while deputies were racing to the home, firefighters, paramedics, and ambulance crews were instructed to stage in the area, until deputies could arrive and secure the scene. Initial, conflicting 911 reports of the incident advised one male victim had either been shot or stabbed.

When deputies arrived at the chaotic scene they found the mortally wounded victim.

“Officers located a male who was shot and died a short time after,” Riverside Sheriff’s Department wrote in a Twitter release shortly before 3 a.m.

Officials have not released the victim’s name or age, pending further investigation and notification of the person’s family.

“Homicide investigators are responding,” wrote RSO, explaining, “No further info available till a PR is released.”
