LA QUINTA: PRCS probationer arrested after officials find 300 grams of meth

LA QUINTA — Sheriff’s officials conducting a probation compliance check say they located 300 grams of suspected methamphetamine and arrested a PRCS probationer at the home. The incident and arrest happened Sunday, June 25, on the 52300 block of Avenida Martinez, southeast of Eisenhower Dr. and Calle Sonora, in La Quinta.

After their investigation, authorities arrested Richard Rios, 52, of La Quinta. He was booked into Indio Jail on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale, and violation of his Post Release Community Supervision, Riverside Sheriff’s Lieutenant Michael Tapp explained after Rios’ arrest.

Deputies assigned to the La Quinta Police Department conducted a probation compliance check at Rios’ residence about 3:45 p.m.

During a search of Rios’ home, deputies located and seized 300 grams of suspected methamphetamine and arrested the PRCS probationer.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 27 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 14 – soon to be 15 – grandchildren.
