HEMET: Attempted bike stop and chase leads to drugs, one arrested

HEMET — Authorities say an attempted bicycle stop and chase earlier this evening led to the discovery of drugs at Hemet’s Diamond Inn Motel. The motel, which has been the site of countless drug-related and other law enforcement problems and arrests, is located at . Florida Ave.

City of Hemet PD Gang Task Force police officers attempted to stop a white male riding a black, BMX-style bicycle in or near the Denny’s parking lot about 5:10 p.m. The man refused to stop and fled across Florida Ave., toward the nearby motel, with GTF officers in hot pursuit.

Officials put out a priority request for assistance and their call for help brought officers converging on the scene from across the city, according to official radio traffic at the time.

The fleeing man, who has not yet been publicly identified, fled into a room at the motel where officials eventually took him into custody.

During their subsequent investigation, officials located an unspecified amount of drugs and arrested the man who fled from them. He was later transported to Hemet PD to be booked into jail.

Hemet PD officials have not yet released any information regarding the incident or arrest.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 27 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 14 – soon to be 15 – grandchildren.
