FALL RIVER MILLS: Victim life-flighted after crashing into parked trailer

FALL RIVER MILLS — A motorist was seriously injured and life-flighted this morning after smashing into a parked trailer in front of the Shell gas station at 43202 Highway 299 E., in Fall River Mills. According to a CHP incident log, the victim suffered major injuries and was believed to have possibly experienced a medical emergency just before the crash.

CHP, Cal Fire, and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene about 11:10 a.m., after multiple witnesses called 911 to report the crash. Callers told SHASCOM emergency dispatchers that a beige Jeep Wrangler had crashed into a parked, red trailer. According to callers, the seriously injured victim and sole occupant of the Jeep was still inside the vehicle.

Officials arrived about five minutes after the call was dispatched and found the victim still inside the Jeep. Based on the victim’s injuries and unknown medical condition, officials requested an air ambulance to the scene.

An air ambulance arrived in the area about noon – landing on Hwy. 299 E, which was closed for the helicopter to land. The victim was loaded onto the chopper and airlifted to an area hospital about 15 minutes later. The person’s condition and reported medical condition that may have led to the crash was not immediately known.

Officials re-opened the roadway about 12:15, after the air ambulance left the area and the Jeep was towed from the scene.

CHP is investigating the cause of the crash and their investigation is ongoing.
