CITY OF SHASTA LAKE: Medical crisis may have led to rollover crash above Fishermans Point

CITY OF SHASTA LAKE — Officials are investigating if a medical crisis led to a single vehicle crash earlier this evening after a vehicle left the roadway and overturned down an embankment. The accident happened on Lake Blvd, south of Shasta Lake and north of Red Bud Ln., above Fishermans Point.

CHP and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of the rollover accident just after 5:50 p.m., after a motorist called 911 to report the solo-vehicle crash.

The 911 caller reported that a vehicle had left the roadway and overturned into a drainage ditch along the side of Lake Blvd. Several good Samaritans who had either witnessed the crash or come upon it afterward were trying to help extricate the injured driver from his wrecked car.

When officials arrived they found the wrecked car, described as a Toyota Celica, as well as the victim and those who had stopped to help him.

It was not immediately known if the victim was transported to hospital for treatment, but a CHP incident log described the man’s injuries as minor.

Officers investigating the crash recognized the vehicle from an earlier broadcast reporting a man driving a Toyota who was possibly experiencing a medical condition.

The Toyota, which sustained moderate damage, was eventually pulled from the embankment and towed from the scene.

CHP’s accident investigation is ongoing and officials have not released any information regarding this incident.
